Adopting an Animal from Dakota’s Dream

How do I adopt from you?

Our adoption process requires an application which is reviewed by volunteers to make sure the home is suitable for the pet. Once the application is approved there is a 24hr waiting period before the adoption can be finalized. After this the adopter is required to sign contractual paperwork that stresses that for any reason you cannot keep the animal that you contact us immediately to return it.

Is there an adoption fee?

Yes, there is an required donation to adopt an animal from us. The fee may vary depending on the vet-work we have provided to the animal. The standard fee for pet adoptions is $25 and can be made payable by cash or check we cannot take cards at this time. We have the cat or dog tested and given vaccinations which the adoption fee helps to cover the cost of. The fee may be higher if we pay to have the animal spayed or neutered. If the animal is not altered we do require a spay/neuter contract to be filled out. We are a non-profit and our adoption fee helps to pay for the medical bills of the cat or dog you are adopting from us.
