We are about two months away from the annual Lee & Zimmy Classic Volleyball Tournament fundraiser held on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at Virginia Volleyball Center. As in past years, we know everyone supporting this tournament will have a great time coming together in memory of two friends we lost in May 2010. We keep this tournament fundraiser running so the lives of both Lee Beattie and John “Zimmy” Zimmerman would never be forgotten. It’s a time for friends and family to get together for a day of reminiscing, laughs, and great volleyball. Both Lee and Zimmy served in our armed forces and were such giving, talented, and hilarious people who touched the lives of so many in a positive way. In that spirit, we use this tournament as a way to remember and honor them and to raise money to donate to a non-profit or person.

Since the inception of the Lee & Zimmy tournament, the monies generated each year have been donated to different nonprofits in both their names. Such organizations as American Brain Tumor Association, National Capital Lyme Disease Association, Transverse Myelitis Association, and Inova Children’s Hospital, and HART, have each received over $10,000.00 from money raised.

This year’s recipient is Dakota’s Dream Animal Rescue (DDAR). Dakota’s Dream is a small, all volunteer run, no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue group. This group is dedicated to rehabilitating, educating, assessing, and matching animals to people. They receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from the community. Most of their expenses go to medical care for the animals. The President of Dakota’s Dream will speak at the tournament to talk more about the organization. Every year, shirts are provided to everyone involved in the tournament and we will place your company’s logo or art design on the shirt for all to see and wear. Please submit your donation by Friday, September 19th, 2025, to have your logo added to the tournament shirts. We hope you’ll consider donating/sponsoring this year’s tournament.
